Nothing to do with books, but cool anyway
I don’t do posts very often that have nothing to do with books in some distant way, but I did create that category just in case I run into things I can’t resist posting. And this is one of those cases.
I and a visiting friend spent a lot of time at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto two weekends ago. And one of the galleries we visited was the Gallery of Minerals — which I really didn’t expect to enjoy, since I’m more into stars than rocks. But I loved it!

I think your captions/titles are as awesome as the images themselves
Thanks, you guys. Some of the rocks just made you think, “Oooh, spiky and sparkly!” But then there were these, which almost shouted possible captions at you. If you peeked at the rest of them in Flickr, you’ll notice that I didn’t include the “Pee on the Snow” photo. =D
Anyway, glad you liked them.
My friend is a geologist married to another one, so they have rocks like this all through their house. None quite this elaborate, but several of them are quite impressive.
I really have to keep an eye on my little ones when we go over there. They also have a limestone dining table and a stone coffee table. It’s a split level house and the mind boggles on how they got all that rock furniture up all those stairs.
Oh my gosh. That would be such an interesting decorative element! The tables and things would be fairly sturdy, you’d think — as long as the legs would hold up the rock.
The health food store where I buy my meat is right next to a “Geode” store. Ever since I went to this gallery, I’ve had to avert my eyes when I passed the window, or I’d be sorely tempted to go in and blow my meagre finances in there.
Hahahaha! But of course it is, dahling. I wonder what this difference of opinion says about your mental preoccupations versus mine?
