Book sneak peeks - right in your inbox

Published by bookish at 6:31 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

My friend Lisa from Minds Alive on the Shelves recently mentioned a very interesting book preview site she’s found.

Some time ago, St. Martin’s Press established the Read it First email club, where you can sign up to have chapters of a new book sent to you each week. They feature one book per week, and each weekday you receive a sample from the book, until at the end of the week you have read “approximately several chapters,” according to the site. (I’m not sure, though, if that means you’ll have read the entire, say, first quarter of the book, or if the samples are from different places in the book.)

Some of the good things about this are that you can get an idea of whether you’d like to buy the book, you can learn about new authors and upcoming books, and you get to sample books that you might not have looked at, otherwise. Plus, you can enter to win free books. Bonus!

I like this idea, and I think I’ll sign up. I especially like that they send samples each day, rather than sending a big file on Monday or something. That way, it will feel less overwhelming, and the reading might get done.

You can also sign up for a host of newsletters, to keep abreast of all sorts of developments in the bookish world.

Thanks to Lisa, for pointing the way to this great site.

You’re welcome! I love having bookish friends so we can give each other tips like this.
